The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a government initiative designed to help Canadians without private dental insurance access essential and preventive dental treatments. Coverage may include routine check-ups, cleanings, fillings and other necessary dental services.
To see if you qualify and to submit an application, please visit Canada.ca/dental. Our team is also happy to assist with questions about CDCP coverage and the services included.
The CDCP is intended for Canadians who do not have private dental insurance and meet the government’s income guidelines. If you’re uncertain about your eligibility, our team can guide you through the application process.
Once your coverage is approved, inform our front desk and we will manage the necessary paperwork for you. Our team provides direct billing whenever possible, making your experience seamless and stress-free.
Transparent Pricing
Transparency in healthcare costs is important to us. Our clinic follows the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, which outlines the suggested fees for dental services in the province. This ensures our pricing is fair, predictable, and aligned with provincial standards.
How this works with the CDCP: The CDCP has its own established fee grid that determines how much the program will reimburse for specific procedures. Because the CDCP fee grid may differ from the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, there may be a portion of the cost (a co-pay) that the patient is responsible for out-of-pocket.
We will always provide a clear, detailed estimate of any recommended treatments and explain exactly what your CDCP coverage includes, along with any out-of-pocket costs based on the Alberta Fee Guide, before any treatment begins.
Common Questions
The CDCP covers a variety of essential oral health services aimed at keeping your teeth and gums healthy. This generally includes exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, root canals, and extractions. Some specialized services may require prior approval.
Depending on your family's adjusted net income, the CDCP may cover 70%, 80%, or 100% of the CDCP fee grid rates. Additionally, because our clinic follows the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, if the CDCP fee is lower than the Alberta guide fee, you will be responsible for the difference (known as a co-pay). We will always provide an estimate beforehand.
Eligibility is determined by the federal government based on age, family income, and lack of access to private dental insurance. You must receive an invitation letter or apply online through Service Canada to receive your CDCP member card.
Please bring your physical or digital CDCP member card, along with a piece of government-issued identification, to your appointment so we can process your claims directly.
